The brief for this project was to select an innovative product concept and investigate the all the necessary stages required to bring the product to market. Key responsibilities were delegated between group members which were based on the key personnel identified in a Company Communication Plan.
A product launch plan was created to ensure sufficient time for R&D and to establish transportation logistics, production capabilities and a strong marketing strategy to optimise consumer exposure.
The business case for the product was thoroughly investigated to ensure the products commercial viability. The Boston Consulting Group’s (BCG) Matrix and the Ansoff Growth Matrix were utilised used to analyse the position of the product within the company’s portfolio and within the market respectively. Porter’s Value Chain was used to analyse the supply chain and operational processes, mitigating supply chain security risks. Relevant ISO standards and European Commission laws were identified to ensure sufficient product quality and sustainability whilst abiding by fair competition laws. The lifecycle of the product was assessed to ensure the product will be profitable when sales maturity has been reached, with adequate plans for product decommission to minimise environmental impact.
