Technologies and Skills: Python, Computer Vision, Arduino C++

The goal of Façade AI (FAI) is to replace the manual inspection of high-rise building façades with an AI computer vision model to detect faults on the exterior. Façade inspection is necessary as faults accumulate over time such as cracks, spalling, corrosion or glass fractures. These faults could cause loose debris to fall onto people below. Regular façade inspection is mandatory in many parts of the world due to these issues, including Canary Wharf, London where the company primarily operates. Working in collaboration with another intern we developed a fully portable prototype, designed to capture footage of the full exterior of a building. This was integrated with a basic computer vision model that was shown to successfully detect faults such as cracking. This prototype was presented to investors to showcase the potential of the concept to revolutionise the façade scanning industry.
